Opening An Account
Opening an account with Forex.com is completely free and generally a smooth process. As part of their commitment to Australian regulatory compliance, you’ll need to complete a standard onboarding procedure — including identity verification and suitability checks.
If you have any questions along the way, the Forex.com support team is readily available to assist you throughout the setup.

As part of ASIC regulations, you will have to complete a small online test on your understanding of forex and leveraged account. If you fail this it will kick you off the system. It's quite simple but please ensure you have access to some resource material when doing the questionare (eg ChatGPT, Google, etc). It just makes it easier and it's not cheating as you are just confirming.

Select the Correct Platform:
When opening your Forex.com account, be sure to select a MetaTrader 4 (MT4) account. This is the platform required to connect with our trading software. -
Access MT4 Anywhere:
The MT4 platform is available for download on desktop (Windows or Mac), mobile devices, and can also be accessed via web browser through your Forex.com account. -
No Need to Keep MT4 Running:
Once your account is active and you've received your MT4 login details, you’ll be able to connect to our trade copy service via a secure cloud server. This means you don’t need to keep MT4 running on your own device — everything operates seamlessly in the background.

Live vs Demo Accounts — Which Should You Choose?
Using a funded live account is the simplest and most effective way to experience our trading software as it’s truly intended. For testing purposes, we recommend starting with a minimum of AUD $2,000. This provides a realistic indicator of system performance with meaningful trade sizes, while allowing you to gain confidence in how everything works. You can add more funds at any time once you're ready.
Alternatively, you may choose to use a demo account to explore the system without any financial risk. You can set any starting balance and still get a feel for the overall operation. However, please note that demo setups can be slightly more complex to configure, and they do not always perfectly replicate real-market conditions or our live trade execution. It will be similar, but not identical.
Opening a Demo Account

Here are the steps required to open a demo account with Forex.com.
Note: This is only after you have set up an account with Forex.com
1. Log into Forex.com here
2. Log into MT4 online
3. Open a 'Demo' account
4. Complete Details
Notes:
-Just choose 'forex usd' to approximate AUD.
- Choose any deposit amount you want
- leave leverage at 100:1
5. Your Login Details
These are the details you will need to login to your MT4 platform on either your computer or device app.
Please note that the 'Server' name is important and you may have to put that in manually when logging in to your MT4 platform and also when connecting to our trade copy service. (see below)
Please keep a record of these details.
6. Finish Demo account request
When you hit 'Complete' it will take you to the web based MT4 platform with City Index.
7. Download App for Phone or tablet
To access your account live without going to the City Index site, just downlaod the Metatrader 4 app from the app store and put in your login details. Make sure that you have the server set at 'MetaQuotes-Demo'.
Please note that the Forex.com MT4 platform will not connect to the MetaQuotes-Demo server - just the live account server.
